A year ago today, K-Pop star Kang Daniel set a new record for the fastest time to gain one million followers on Instagram. What makes this record more interesting is the fact that he only joined the social media platform on New Year’s Day of 2019!
Quickly gaining one million fans, Kang broke the record of Pope Francis who reached 1 million in 12 hours following the debut of his 2016 verified Vatican Media channel ‘franciscus’.
The first post of Kang was a selfie with the caption ‘HELLO’ and it was posted on January 1, 2019 at 10pm PST (Pacific Standard Time) before the channel hit 1 million followers on 2 January at 09:36 a.m. PST, achieving the new record in 11 hours 36 minutes.
